Process of Development

Happy new year and thank you for you’re  support and for taking the time to read my blog. It is very appreciated and I hope that it has been a blessing to you all, even if you have only read one post it does mean a lot to me. ❤

Being confident of this very thing , that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt like your not as far as you should be and felt discouraged by this?

I know I have. Sometimes I think and look at areas of my life and think am I behind, should things have progressed past the point they are. For instance: Closeness in relationships with family/ friends, certain tasks you desired to finish a while ago which are still incomplete, growth in walk with Christ, development into the roles you hold (sister, daughter, colleague, cousin, women, a single christian women) and the list goes on.

This brings me to the topic of development and progression, as we have recently entered a new year, with goals, desires, hopes and dreams for 2017. It is a great time to look at Philippians 1:6.

  • Begin is a verb that means to start, initiate, or set in motion.
  • Progress: Forward or onward movement towards a destination. Development towards an improved or more advanced condition.
  • Work– activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a result.
  • To be complete is having all the necessary or appropriate parts.

If we are not careful we can become paralyzed with fear, to grow and walk in our purpose. If we spend too much time, worrying about what has not advanced the way you thought it would at this point, we can become stagnant. We are often our own hardest critique, be kind to your self.

Lets breakdown Philippians 1:6:

Being confident of this very thing , that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

First thing we are told is to be confident, where does this confidence come… Faith. God has gone before us and created each and everyone of us with a purpose, He knows what your capabilities are and your mannerisms and thoughts a far off. .

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son , that He might be the first born among many brethren.                                                      Romans 8:29 (NKJV)

Secondly, we have to recognize that God pursued us and first loved us and because of this He has enabled us to love and pursue our purpose. He is the author and finisher of our faith, do you think God is surprised when we fall or  when we haven’t accomplished a  task yet… He is not surprised. The scripture states ‘He who begun a good work in you’, this is a key thing to grasp, that it is God our source who has lent resources to us, to cultivate and multiply. He seeks a return on our lives for His kingdom. We have to get passed thinking we can do everything in our own strength, this is where frustration and works of the flesh are evident.

To be able to grow in love and to even display love to God, we need our Heavenly Father. To be able to accomplish a task, we need Him. To be able to be the best in the roles we have in life, we need Him. To be able lead and have your family dwelling in the house the Lord, we need Him. To grow and develop and mature as a person, we need him. And so it goes on.

Lastly, the scripture states ‘will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ’. If we lean upon God and allow him He will complete the work He has begun in you, and it even goes on to say will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. What does this mean? It means that we are meant to always be evolving and developing until the day Jesus Christ return. So all the days of our life we are a work in progress and God knows this.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12: 1-2 (NKJV)

So today I encourage you to keep pressing forward and to not dwell on what has not been accomplished. To remember who has there hands on you and that He who began a good in you, will complete it, just keep holding on to Jesus. Go to God with those things you tried to hide and the things you are worried about because he cares for you and desires a personal relationship with you. God Bless.
