Process of Development

Happy new year and thank you for you’re  support and for taking the time to read my blog. It is very appreciated and I hope that it has been a blessing to you all, even if you have only read one post it does mean a lot to me. ❤

Being confident of this very thing , that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt like your not as far as you should be and felt discouraged by this?

I know I have. Sometimes I think and look at areas of my life and think am I behind, should things have progressed past the point they are. For instance: Closeness in relationships with family/ friends, certain tasks you desired to finish a while ago which are still incomplete, growth in walk with Christ, development into the roles you hold (sister, daughter, colleague, cousin, women, a single christian women) and the list goes on.

This brings me to the topic of development and progression, as we have recently entered a new year, with goals, desires, hopes and dreams for 2017. It is a great time to look at Philippians 1:6.

Image result for work in progress

  • Begin is a verb that means to start, initiate, or set in motion.
  • Progress: Forward or onward movement towards a destination. Development towards an improved or more advanced condition.
  • Work– activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a result.
  • To be complete is having all the necessary or appropriate parts.

If we are not careful we can become paralyzed with fear, to grow and walk in our purpose. If we spend too much time, worrying about what has not advanced the way you thought it would at this point, we can become stagnant. We are often our own hardest critique, be kind to your self.

Lets breakdown Philippians 1:6:

Being confident of this very thing , that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

First thing we are told is to be confident, where does this confidence come… Faith. God has gone before us and created each and everyone of us with a purpose, He knows what your capabilities are and your mannerisms and thoughts a far off. .

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son , that He might be the first born among many brethren.                                                      Romans 8:29 (NKJV)

Secondly, we have to recognize that God pursued us and first loved us and because of this He has enabled us to love and pursue our purpose. He is the author and finisher of our faith, do you think God is surprised when we fall or  when we haven’t accomplished a  task yet… He is not surprised. The scripture states ‘He who begun a good work in you’, this is a key thing to grasp, that it is God our source who has lent resources to us, to cultivate and multiply. He seeks a return on our lives for His kingdom. We have to get passed thinking we can do everything in our own strength, this is where frustration and works of the flesh are evident.

To be able to grow in love and to even display love to God, we need our Heavenly Father. To be able to accomplish a task, we need Him. To be able to be the best in the roles we have in life, we need Him. To be able lead and have your family dwelling in the house the Lord, we need Him. To grow and develop and mature as a person, we need him. And so it goes on.

Lastly, the scripture states ‘will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ’. If we lean upon God and allow him He will complete the work He has begun in you, and it even goes on to say will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. What does this mean? It means that we are meant to always be evolving and developing until the day Jesus Christ return. So all the days of our life we are a work in progress and God knows this.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12: 1-2 (NKJV)

So today I encourage you to keep pressing forward and to not dwell on what has not been accomplished. To remember who has there hands on you and that He who began a good in you, will complete it, just keep holding on to Jesus. Go to God with those things you tried to hide and the things you are worried about because he cares for you and desires a personal relationship with you. God Bless.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Image result for comfort zone quotes

I have been looking at the area of comfort zones over the summer. The picture (below) mentioned 90% (not a factual figure) of the population lived in their comfort zone and in mediocrity. Even though it may not be an exact figure we see all around us the evidence of this. Staying in a job, relationship, friendship past its sell by date out of being comfortable and knowing what to expect. Being frustrated by the same things everyday but continuing in the same cycle.

Image result for comfort zone quotes

Comfort zones:

  • a situation where one feels safe or at ease.
  • a settled method of working that requires little effort and yields only barely acceptable results.

If you stay in your comfort zone, you will never improve

What keeps us in the same patterns instead of stepping out of our comfort zones?

We stay in situations we are frustrated with because we know what to expect and are used to the surroundings. There is a clear picture of what is ahead within your comfort zone, as it doesn’t involve you exercising your faith to do it. You know what to expect of others and what is expected of you.

I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them; And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them. And not forsake them.

Isaiah 42:16

For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; why does one still hope for what he sees?

Romans 8:24

“Breaking your own mold can only make you stronger and more confident to reach higher levels in your professional and personal life. Innovation happens when we step outside our comfort zone. Being stagnant in routine often results in plummeting creativity”

Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo, therapist .

The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey …

Deuteronomy 1:6-7

What hindrance to your faith is it staying comfortable?

If where you are is so solid and comfortable, you are able to do it in your own strength. We end up not giving God the chance to move within our situation. We are fearful of what could happen if we illuminate the light within us placed by God.  If we are in a place where we do not need God and things are so clear and can be done. Are we really where we need to be, should we really be able to carry out our day to day lives in our own strength over His sufficiency?

How can God light your path if your not willing to step into the darkness of the unknown, you cannot light a lit room there first has to be darkness, a blank canvas.

It is in those times where we are unsure, when things are not set out that gives our dependency to God. Because it leaves us in a place where we have to step out and trust God will light the way.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.

2 Corinthians 3:5

The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt  before your eyes.

Deuteronomy 1:30

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.

Psalm 32:8

I sought the Lord, and He heard me. And delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 34:4

If you stay in your comfort zone you will never improve. Lets seek God today and look at the areas in our lives we have become comfortable and settled in our frustration and surrender it to God, to enlighten our darkness and for Him to be a lamp to our feet.

In Safe hands

Father in the mighty name of Jesus, Lord thank you for being the great provider and for saving us from a path of destruction. Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your family, thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Soften our hearts today and cover us in a fresh anointing, fill us up O Lord until we overflow. You are the great Shepherd and our support through all seasons. Lord develop us today, build up our character and help us to stand firmly upon the rock our God through the wind, rain and floods of life let us not be overthrown. Cover us in the whole Armour of God and any wicked plan being plotted against your church let it be returned back to the sender, reveal to us where we are being deceived and shine your truth upon us. Lord lead this post today, let it be filled with you O Heavenly Father. In Jesus Name Amen.

Someone mentioned the notion of ‘time ticking’ the other day, the idea that there is a time frame for things to take place in our lives is so apparent. There are so many things which people want in their life to feel content and secure. Being single and desiring to meet your ‘Boaz’; Meeting your potential partner and desiring to be married; Being married and desiring to have a family, Having a job and desiring progression in your career. ALONGSIDE our desires, life has its own twist and turns and unexpected events such as break ups, people being removed from your life, redundancy, death, failing a test.

What do we do when things are not in line with our plans? How do you carry yourself through these times?

I used to be really anxious and worried about being single and started to believe I would never find my person. I allowed negative thoughts to take over and everyday those voices got louder of inadequacy (not being good enough). It stopped me from being able to fully embrace the joy of my loved ones happiness, as all I could see is them having what I longed for to be loved. I was lonely and down all the time I put my trust in ‘if i have x in my life everything will be better’. I started to devalue myself and the self love was not there, wondering why it was not my time.

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

We do not need to fret and be anxious about our future because we are in SAFE HANDS.

So shall My word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which i sent it.

Isaiah 55:11

Why do we worry about our lives when we have God on our side?

The book of Exodus comes to mind, when God delivers the children of Israel from captivity from the Egyptians. After they crossed the Red Sea, the children of Israel and Moses were singing songs of adoration unto the Lord. After 3 days in the wilderness with no water they complained and again 2 months later:

And the people complained against Moses, saying, ‘What shall we drink’

Exodus 15: 24

Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. And the children of Israel said to them ‘Oh , that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt , when we sat by the pots of meat and we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to this whole assembly with hunger.’

Exodus 16:2-3

Sometimes we do not appreciate enough where God has carried us from after the initial high of receiving a blessing and answered prayer. We appreciate it in that moment when the feelings and emotions are raw and present but after sometime we begin to complain. The children of Israel were rescued from slavery, then found themselves in a place where they began to have doubt about where God was leading them. And wanted to return to the place they were rescued from, in that moment when they felt unsure and everything looked gloomy they wanted to return to a place of familiarity even though it was unpleasant.

When we do not see what is ahead and lack trust in God, we find ourselves in a state of anxiety and stress.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew  He also predestined to conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8:28-29

Foreknew: be aware of (an event) before it happens:

Predestined: determine (an outcome or course of events) in advance by divine will or fate.

We spend time worrying, being anxious and giving ourselves time limits, when we have a God, who has perfect timing. We really do not need to be worried about our lives, God said He foreknows us and that He is working all things out for our Good. God has gone ahead of us, things might not make sense right now but God sees the bigger picture and I want you all to know you are in safe hands just trust in Him today to enlighten your path. God is in control. His word is proven and does not come back void, He is a Sovereign God and our Great PROVIDER. An intentional God who is a Covenant Keeping God. When you can not see how things are going to play out look back at all the blessings and prayers that have been answered before and wait earnestly, your season of turn around is on its way. Thank God today, for what you have. Do not miss the reason for your current season. God will turn something that seems like a mess now into beautiful message. Cast your anxieties upon Him today because He truly cares about you. He is a personal God.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

For you will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

Psalms 18:28

It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect.

Psalms 18:32

Spirit lead me where my trust is without boarders.

Let me walk upon the waters

Wherever You would call me

Take me deeper than my feet  could ever wander.

And my faith will be made stronger.

In the presence of my Savior

– Hill songs: Oceans (where feet may fall).

Have a blessed day and keep pressing forward. God bless.

Beyond Our Wants

Lord in Jesus Name. Thank you for your presence, warmth and deliverance, thank you for never forsaking us. Thank you for loving us at our worst as well as our best, Lord lead this post today, soften all our hearts, remove the hardness around our heart which is stopping us from being moulded the way you intend. Help us to remain teachable, pour out a fresh anointing on us today, help us to progress to go from faith to faith within you. Heavenly Father give us the strength, wisdom and understanding to be able to see beyond our wants and needs, let our lives be aligned with your will for us. Give us a new song to sing unto you.

In Jesus Name Amen

There are so many things in which we ask God for. We have a caring God who has a individual plan for each and every one of us. Every day he gives us new blessings the fact we can breathe, walk, talk, go to and from work, have a roof over us and the list goes on, is a blessing.  How great is our God, that he takes our desires into consideration and listens to our prayers on his Holy Hill, he individually meets our needs.

Are we really thankful and grateful for the privilege of having the presence our Creator with us, are we still thankful when our desires are not answered instantly? What if we do not get what we wanted will we still hold on to our faith in Christ?

After the well known miracle of God parting the Red Sea and delivering Israel from the Philistines. Shortly, after Israel was delivered from captivity, they began to complain about what they lacked.

And the people complained against Moses , saying ‘What shall we eat or drink?’

Exodus 15:24

Sometimes we forget to acknowledge where God has taken us from and the trials which God has delivered us from.

It is great that God blesses us with things but do you see the greatest blessing of all? Are we so blinded by the things God has created, that we forget to acknowledge the Creator of all things?

We have to examine the intentions behind our desires, we have to check if we are more consumed with getting what we want over the value of God’s Presence. Are we being grateful today? Lets look at Moses, God told him that they can go to the promise land where all wonderful things were, but God was going to send an angel with them and not His presence.

Go up to a land flowing of milk and honey; for i will not go up in your midst lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.’  Exodus 33: 3

But Moses was not content with having this beautiful place at the expense of God’s Presence. Are you in love with God or are you just in love with the things God can provide?

Then he said to Him, ‘If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here’  Exodus 33:15

Moses even went as far to say do not move us out of the wilderness into this beautiful place if you do not go with us. Could we really say this, God keep me in my current situation which seems to be a trial and do not move me unless you go with me. It takes a lot to say this.

King Hezekiah demonstrated the power we possess and the blessing it is to have God on our side. Sennacherib king of Assyria came to make war against Judah, they came to attack Judah, to make them stumble, trying to shake their faith. Hezekiah said this to encourage the people of Judah.

“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude  that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.

2 Chronicles 32:7

With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

 2 Chronicles 32:8

It does not matter what the enemy has, He who dwells within us is far greater than what is in this world. God is our strong tower, our personal refuge. Shift your focus today away from what you lack and what tools your opposition has and look towards, Christ Jesus our Saviour who gave us the Holy Spirit. We conquer  all things through God who loves us. It is a blessing to have God in our corner.

The first time I came across this picture it really made me think. The quotes I have always heard are: ‘Treat people the way they treat you’. Another one I have heard is’ what is the point of me being nice to people when they just throw it back in your face’ or ‘From now on I’m going to be a cow (words not so pleasant as this but you get my drift) because I’m fed up of being taken for a mug’

These sayings have come from a place of frustration, from a place of doing good towards others and it not being reciprocated back. I must admit I have been there so many times and it can be so disheartening giving 100% and not even getting 50% back.

Those times when you are the one making more of an effort in a friendship/ relationship, giving your workplace your best while others are getting away with doing the bare minimum. Someone being rude to you for no reason, being there for other people when they need you and it not being returned when you need it. And so it goes on.

It does suck at times and you can understand how the frustration starts to build.

I noticed this video on facebook, and it made me think deeper about the reasoning, behind our frustration.

She said I pray more now to love than to be loved and to understand rather than seeking to be understood. She said we do not know love like we should and mentioned that  we do not know unconditional love because when people stop stimulating us, we stop loving them.

Do not say , ‘I will recompense evil’; Wait for the Lord , and he will save you.

Proverbs 20:22

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles. Proverbs 24:17

But I say to you who hear; Love your enemies, do good to those that hate you.

Luke 6:27

A few weeks ago, I had a situation where I was giving 100% to my role at work and I felt like people above me where always on my case and one day there was an issue around a service user and I was so passionate about it, then they shifted the focus onto me, and I flipped. I have not been that angry in a long time, I was so angry to the point that I just cried. And that same week I felt rejected and left out by friends and family.  I wrote a Facebook status venting my frustration, of my discouragement (cringe I know). As I was crying out of frustration and feeling like everything I had done for other people was being slapped in my face.

God whispered, this is how people have treated me on many occasions, all the goodness in their lives which I provided and the sacrifices I have given have not been appreciated. It made me think about all the times, I had basically thrown Gods amazing grace, mercy and blessings back at him. All those times I choose to do something displeasing to God to benefit my instant gratification instead of following God. All the things I have taken for granted. I started to think why do you keep on loving us Lord, we really do not deserve it. But you continue to give 100% all the time, you never grow weary.

Then after I finished praying, I went back on my Facebook and was amazed to see how friends from different religions were speaking to their friends of their faith, about the hope that is within me. How it has inspired and encouraged them. It was really reaffirming how much God needs us to constantly represent him within every setting, and how people are secretly watching your actions. Right then, I started to understand the first picture ‘Don’t treat people how they treat you, Treat people how God treats you’.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15

I know its hard to keep pressing on and doing good to others, one of the fruits of the spirit God wants to perfect in us is long suffering.

Long suffering: Having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially those caused by other people. Some of the words in the same category  are: tolerant, forgiving, meek, charitable, forbearance.

How does God treat us then?

Isaiah 53

He is despised and rejected by men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem him. (verse 3)

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. (verse 4)

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our inequities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him and by his stripes we are healed. (verse 5)

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way;  And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (verse 6)

Jesus  was stoned, mocked, spat on, hurt for us, and he carried on and persevered for us, for the chance for us to be saved. God sent his only begotten son to endure everything , for You. To save the same people who turned away from Him.

Basically, look unto Jesus, God made us in his own image, strive towards Gods standards. We are a work in progress, allow God to make you over into who he needs you to be.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall  reap, if we do not loose heart. Galatians 6:9

Trusting God with the Unknown

In Jesus Name , Oh Heavenly Father, Our great provider, who knows every strand of hair on our heads. Our Great Deliverer, Our Great Protector,  Our Comforter, the Prince of Peace, the Lord of Lords, All-Knowing, Our Healer, Our Refuge and Strong Tower. Thank you Almighty God for being the GREAT I AM. Thank you for your love, grace and mercies given to us each day, thank you for never leaving our side, for loving us at our worst ,  for remaining faithful when we display lack of faith. Thank you for your patience and for the fact that you do not grow weary like us, thank you for the greatest sacrifice of all, the act of love displayed on the cross for us. We give you glory and honor. Lord thank you for being in control for being the lamp to our feet. Lord let me decrease and you increase within this message, let it encourage everyone who comes across this post, pour out your Spirit upon the body of Christ, purge our hearts and remove any impurities in our lives which are hindering us from walking in your purpose. Grow the mustard seed of faith within us and help us to look unto you and seek guidance from you in every aspect of our lives, let our desires be in sync with your desires for us. Thank you God for your perfect timing.

In Jesus Name Amen.

Putting our trust in the Lord is spoken about throughout the Bible, you hear people mention it in church or when you share your burden with someone. Trusting God is a fundamental component to our day to day lives. Those days when everything seems to be falling apart or not going to plan, having no idea how God will make our situation work out for our good. Those days when you have no idea how everything is going to fall into place. When your present visual (physical realm) seems so far off. You can not see how you will prosper and evolve. The Unknown

The Unknown, we all have desires and even though we plan sometimes you can’t see it flourishing in your life. Is it that your waiting to be pursued by your spouse in line with your plan to be married by (x) age, the awkward moment  when he hasn’t arrived yet? Is it that you want to build your relationship with someone but they are on the defense and pushing all your buttons? Is it that you want to serve in some capacity but people in your church annoy you or you simply don’t know where you fit in? Is it that you want to move but you have no idea where to? Is it that you have been looking for the game changer career move to take flight but you don’t seem to fit the brief or every door seems closed? etc.

For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand; Saying to you ‘Fear Not’, I will help you.          Isaiah 41:13 (NKJV)

He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.            Proverbs 28:26 (NKJV)

As for God, His way is perfect. The word of Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in him.              2 Samuel 22:31 (NKJV)

God is my strength and power. And he makes my way perfect.                                         2 Samuel 22:33 (NKJV)

The great news is it doesn’t matter how things appear, God is working all things out for YOU. God is all knowing. He created the universe, our Father is the CREATOR, he knows what is best for you. God will fight for you, God is just and will fulfill his promises. He has proven time and time again, everything is done in his perfect timing. All you need to do is trust that your life is in great hands you don’t need to know every detail, God already knows.

In the book of John (chapter 20: 24-31), when Jesus arose from the dead and fulfilled the scripture. Thomas one of his disciples, did not want to believe that his friends had seen the Lord. He wanted every detail, visual evidence of what happened:

The other disciples therefore said to him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ So he said to them, ‘Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.’   John 20:25 (NKJV)

Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach your finger here, and look at my hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into my side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing’

And Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’.

Jesus said to him, ‘Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.’

John 20:27-29 (NKJV)

I remember in final year, I had worked really hard on my portfolio, had a tick list everything was so organised and I had even submitted my work a month early. I felt like everything was on track to me getting my 2:1. I had even calculated what percent I needed in each module to achieve it (geek I know). Then BANG reality slapped me in the face and I got my results back and I had passed but not at the standard I wanted. It was way below the percentage I needed. Slowly that desire of finishing with a 2:1 was drifting away, it seemed unattainable now, I was thinking God I messed up how can I possibly turn it around. There was tears no one could console me. Then I felt God tell me, am I not bigger than your degree, is anything impossible for me. I had heard all about trust and faith but I was put to the test. My need to be in control and the way I crumbled just displayed the disbelief in my heart of God fulfilling his promises in my life. God came through for me, He made the unknown future of what would happen next, work out for good. God was in control.

God is bigger than your current circumstance, His ways and thoughts are higher than our own. You are in safe hands, when everything you see and hear is shouting just give up. Remember God has never forsaken you and has delivered you countless times. God comes through on his promises, He hears your cry and prayers. Just believe, trust and have faith in your Creator.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.    Proverbs 30:5

Who can you count on

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for covering us in your love, thank you for always being there for us, thank you for your warmth and care for us. Thank you Lord for delivering us from the strongholds in our lives and thank you for being a true Living God who always comes through for us. Father let your love transcend into every area of our lives, help us to realize the true joy of having you in our corner. Help us to walk in love towards others as you have to us. Soften our heart and open the eyes of our heart so that we can walk in your ways. In Jesus Name Amen

This song is so beautiful it is so true, Thank you God for always loving and caring for me.

Have you ever felt like you are going through this life alone, like you have all these people around you but still feeling like you are on your own? It is easy for people to be around when things are good or if they need you for something. But what about when you are no longer needed and things are not so good? When you want to share your burden who can you turn to?

We love him because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (NKJV)

The good news is people may let you down however God does not we can always count on Gods Love For Us. We are never alone, God does not forsake. God loves you and you are precious to him. Gods love is everlasting. He is eagerly waiting for us to pursue and grown in relationship with him. God is dependable, reliable and faithful!!

But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

It is a big thing to grasp that while we were hard in hearts and depending on everything but God, God still loved us and gave the greatest sacrifice his son our Lord Jesus Christ to save YOU and me.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKJV)

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:8 (NLT)

You are loved. You are valued. You are chosen. You are cared for. You are never alone. You are worth saving. He is waiting for you to accept and to grow in relationship with him.

How much are you really encouraging others? When is the last time you checked up on someone you have not heard from in a while? Have you responded to that message someone sent you? We all need encouragement at some point, lets walk in love today as God has on to us.

Have a blessed day

Don’t forget

Just want to take a moment out to really think about the love you have for your Family, Friends, Colleagues.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.  Proverbs 22:6

Lord Almighty God may you guide us by the Holy Spirit as you reveal to us who we have not spared enough time to help, help us to not labor in vain but to reach the people you are calling us to. Have mercy upon us and thank you lord for your grace and realizations. In Jesus Name Amen

I thank you God for revelation today , I thank God for your mercy which endures forever!

I have recently been adjusting to moving back home from University after my travels around America. I just missed all the work that God had done in my life whilst I was in Coventry, I miss the church, the kids I served in RG as their teacher, and just serving there all together. Even though I loved everything I had in Coventry, I knew God called me to use all the skills, gifts and talents he gave me back home. I was needed to be a light to those around me here. Even though I knew it was right for me to come home, it was a struggle none the less, accepting that God has a new plan for me. I always referred to Coventry as my place of peace, my happy place. Deep down I knew that at this time in my life I was needed here.

One day as I was listening to my little brother read I noticed he was struggling to flow and around the same time he told me he hasn’t been consistent in his time with God for a while. How did I forget to build up my own little brother?…I was so wrapped up in wanting to be in my comfort serving and building my kids in Coventry, that I was missing my own brothers needs.

Since then we have been doing bible study everyday, praying together and learning together. It has been a true blessing within 3 days he was speaking more fluent and we have learnt a memory verse together a day. He loves it, it has become our thing! I thank God for the way he is already using me here. Gods plan is definitely better than our own!

Continue to trust in the Lord even if you miss what you have put down to follow him.

It is great to serve in your community and in your church and I love my church, but just don’t forget to make sure your own family and friends are also encouraged, do not neglect them. You are  a light to all. This is a hard thing to do but with our God all things are possible, don’t leave it for your parents to deal with if you see your siblings needing help don’t brush it aside. Use all God has placed in you to encourage and guide them in the right path.

Lamp of the Body

The name Lamp for Christ was inspired by :

No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lamp stand, that those who come in may see the light.  Luke 11:33

We are not meant to blend into this world but we are meant to be a light to others. Be a light in the time of someone else’s darkness. We are not meant to hide but we are to be full of courage. We are meant to stand out.

It’s really hard to be a light to others when you do not even know how to be this, do we let our emotions and our own circumstances get in the way of the light that is in us?

The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Luke 11:34

At my summer camp in America I arrived so enthusiastic, ready to help and make a difference. I definitely got a reality check, I started to put my light in a secret place getting bogged down with how external factors weren’t up to my standard of living. I became ungrateful and selfish and just focused on how I felt. Then on my day off I watched this movie and God spoke to me and corrected me. Through me loosing focus on my purpose to serve others and through my focus upon my own circumstances and feeling I deserved more. I unknowingly, began to dim my own lamp and was making it hard for God to use me because I was so caught up. I thank God for his wisdom and correction.

This song reminds me that God should be glorified through our lives, there is so much pain in this world and so many  people turning away and worshiping idols. It is so important for us to be a light to the people in our lives from our family, to colleagues, lecturers, neighbors, etc. I love the line ‘the change I want to see must first begin in me. I SURRENDER so your world can be changed’and ‘If their looking for you Jesus let them find you in me’  WOW so powerful!!

What is your eye focused on is it hindering your light to shine?

I just want to thank God for being patient with me and for his tender mercies upon my life.

I pray that this blog will be led by the spirit and that myself and everyone who comes across it will gain something. I want you to flow Lord. In Jesus Name Amen

God placed a thought in my mind to start a blog during my travels to America. I have never really thought about doing this before then and honestly I have been putting it off, I was overwhelmed about where I would start and doubted that I would be able to do it.

Do not quench the spirit     1 Thessalonians 5:19

I want to say sorry for delaying action and for not listening to your direction Lord, So many times I ask god to do something without doing what has already been placed in my heart.

The book of Jonah came to my attention today. He disobeyed gods command to go to Nineveh to save the people, he delayed and went and did his own thing. Through Jonah not listening to god he actually put other people in danger, from his unwillingness to follow direction.

It made me think am I really willing to follow God’s direction when he calls or am I going to delay responding to God and what are the damaging factors to my idleness to act?
